Lost and confused, I need to find meaning in my life. That warm spring day changed my life and showed me what was truly important. I walked out the door of my house and looked around and the trees and up to the great big beautiful golden sun and asked for guidance. What started out for me as a simple walk through the woods and to the ponds became more profound and carried more meaning than even I would realize at that present moment.
Walking along and asking the question, "Why- Why does life have to be this way?" At that point in my life I was filled with an inner sadness. I knew that I had to find the one thing that could bring me true happiness and that was myself, my true inner being. I didn't know where to find myself, I guess you could say I was afraid to. I found what I was looking for in the most obvious of places, yet a place I would have never thought to look.
That spring day, I walked through the woods and it smelled of life. The trees were reaching out to surround me with there limbs and welcome me into there sanctum. At the time, however, I was completely oblivious to the many blessings that surrounded me. I continued to walk on.
The first pond, I walked to I sat down on the big rock we have there and looked around me. What I found was all of life's wondrous creations alive and willing to share their stories if I was willing to open up my heart and listen to the Master within.
The grass was reaching up towards the golden sun whispering ever so gently to me, " I like you am searching and find my answers in reaching towards the Greater light, perhaps you should do the same."
Then I glanced at the trees that whispered ever so gently, " Indeed you must reach towards the greater light as the tiniest blade of grass, however, you must remain grounded and find your true roots, as we do."
The beautiful sun shining down in all its radiance whispered ever so gently, " Not only should you reach towards the greater light my child, or search for your roots, you must let your inner light shine as I do."
The wind picked up and whispered ever so gently, " You must KNOW when to be gentle and when to be forceful on your journey to Truth little one. Never allow others to sway you."
I looked to the water and listened silently...Whispering ever so gently I heard, " You must learn when to be still and when to go with the flow in doing this you understand the true power of within."
" So, said the little bird flying up in the trees, are you following the lessons being shared with you so far?"
I replied, " I must be willing to reach towards the greater light, but to do that I must always remain grounded and be in touch with my roots."
The little bird bounced from branch to branch, "okay, please continue."
Looking up at him I replied, " I must also let my inner light shine and be as gentle and as caring as the wind and above all I need to learn when to be still or to go with the flow."
The little bird seemed to be smiling, " Very Good, he said, I see you have been listening. I will add but one thing. It will be difficult at times but is not unreachable, you must always remember to look at things from a higher perspective as a bird on winds of truth."
The clouds looking as if they were about to burst smiled down and whispered, " Things in your life will be forever changing as do we. Even though we are constantly changing we are always made up of the same thing.Don't forget that."
I sat there and thought of the things that had just been revealed to me. I stood up and gave thanks and then continued on my walk. I had a lot to sort out in my mind. Yes, I understood what was being shared with me. It was in February I started to do a lot of my writing. Never really knowing that it was my writing that led me to the present moment. For what I had been writing drew me to this place. I will now share what I wrote on that important day February 8, 1999.
